Today you are 18 months old.
You speak in 2-4 word sentences like “Mama pick Ah-do up.” and “Ah-do jacket on.”
You like to sing. Today, for the first time ever, I caught you singing, “Mr. Sun, Sun” all by yourself. And then later on in the day, you made up an entirely new song with a tune and everything. It sounded a lot like you were saying “macaroni” but I’m not certain. The refrain was very beautiful.
You like to run in circles and announce that you are running in circles.
You love to take walks. You insist on walking yourself, and will often carry a doll with you for company. Sometimes you hold him or her by the hands so he or she can walk on their own.
You are infinitely happy most of the time.
You are a whopping 32″ tall but still skinny as a beanpole.
You sleep through the night. Finally.
You still love to nurse during the day and pop up at dawn knowing that you’re allowed to nurse in the daylight.
If I don’t get up fast enough in the morning, you hand me my glasses and shout “getup. getup. getup.” If I continue to be lazy, you smack me in the nose and shout it again.
As soon as I get up, you ignore me and go off and play by yourself anyways.
You love to wear fancy shoes. For a while, your favorite was a yellow rain boot on the left foot and a brown sandal on the right. Recently, you’ve switched over to a pair of white patent leather mary janes that we call your party shoes.
You love to cook. Real and imaginary. You are particularly fond of spices.
You still love to watch big kids. You are fascinated by them and then you will imitate their behavior for a split second before wandering off on your own again. You also love young women, but are rather reluctant to befriend young men.
You love to recite the names of all the people you know.
Your favorite fruit is blueberries and your favorite food request is, “tootie.”
You love to make the sounds of a “Big Tuck” Vroom vroom vroom. Tooo Tooo!”
You are the coolest kid I know.
Oh, I love the details you picked out here. I can just imagine her walking with the doll.
The way she wakes you up is really too funny…
These memories are going to be so special in years to come…I wish I’d taken the time to remember these sorts of details about my boys. They are only 3 1/2 and 2, but to remember what my first was doing at 18 months (perhaps because I was weeks away from delivering #2) is a stretch.
Precious!
She’s such a wonderful, wonderful girl. Precious insights…
Womb. Ache. Happy 1.5 Avi!
p.s. from a few posts back, Quirks #1 and 6 cracked me up, especially picturing you correcting her so that she would keep saying “O-tay.” Awesome.
O my god you love your kid so much it’s so cute
